Lois A. DeMarr-Sargent

Lois DeMarr-Sargent, 77, of Elkhart, died at 8:32 am, January 2, 2010 at Our Lady of Peace Hospital, Mishawaka.

She was born September 2,1932 in Muskegon, MI to William and Jeanette (Drewes) Gillies and married Donald DeMarr on Jan. 31, 1950. He died Aug. 9, 1996. She then married Joseph N. Sargent on Sept. 15, 2001. He died July 21, 2007. Surviving are 2 daughters, Pamela (Greg) Nicolini of Granger, IN and Rebecca (Colette) Ellinghouse of Goshen; 1 son- Rick (Darlene) DeMarr of Alpena, MI; 1 Step-daughter, Carrie (Jeff) Nicolini of Mishawaka; 4 grandchildren, 2 great-granddaughters, and 3 step-grandchildren; 1 brother, Robert (Charlene) Gillies of Grand Rapids, MI.

Mrs. DeMarr-Sargent retired after 13 years as a receptionist at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI and later worked for Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Ladies Bible Study Group. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Friends may call from 3-7 pm Wednesday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd. Elkhart, and an hour prior to the 11 am Thursday service at Trinity United Methodist Church, 2715 E. Jackson Blvd. Elkhart. Reverend Lore Blinn Gibson will officiate. Burial will be at a later date at Spring Lake Cemetery, Spring Lake, MI.
