Lois Mae Kanable, 78, of Elkhart, passed away Monday May 13, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born December 22, 1945 in Sparta, Wisconsin to Delbert and Margaret Griffin. On December 5, 1964 she married Jerry Kanable.
After high school Lois attended Ivy Tech College and received her Associate Degree in Medical Transcription and Coding. She worked as a beautician for 10 years and as a postal employee in the Middlebury and Elkhart offices. She enjoyed crocheting, crafts, sewing, puzzles and traveling here at home and abroad.
Surviving are her husband of 59 years, Jerry, 2 daughters, Becky (Blake) Palmer of Edwardsburg, MI and Nancy Jacob of Tomah, Wisconsin, grandchildren: Aaron (Kayla) and Kilie Palmer, Krystal (Jered) Iverson, and Jesse (Carissa) and Clayton Jacob (Ally Wolter), 7 great-grandchildren: AJ, Austin, Abel, McCoy, Jessie Jo, Waylon and Aiden, a brother, Lloyd Griffin of Wisconsin, 2 sisters Eileen Clark of Cape Coral, Florida and Audrey Graham of Tomah, Wisconsin, numerous nieces and nephews and a special daughter Erica Cameron. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Harley Griffin, Dwayne Griffin, Darlene Schroeder, Beverly Hutchison, Lydia Helming, Joyce Griffin and Margie Maack.
Visitation for Lois will be from 5pm to 7pm on Thursday May 16, 2024 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd, Elkhart, IN 46514 and one hour prior to the funeral service. Funeral services will be at 11 am on Friday May 17, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Elkhart, 53953 County Road 17, Bristol, IN 46507 with Dave Yoder officiating.
Entombment will follow at Faith Mausoleum, Rice Cemetery, Elkhart.
