Lois Edythe Martin

Lois E. Martin, 97 of Lanark Village, FL, passed away Thursday, Sept.12, 2013 at Weems Memorial Hospital in Apalachicola, FL. She was born Oct. 25, 1915 in Medford, OR to the late Lewis and Pauline (Leaders) Overholser. She married Devon C. Martin on Aug. 25, 1935. He preceded her in death January, 1974. 5 brothers and a sister also preceded in death. Surviving is her only daughter, JoEllen (John) Chandler of Lanark Village, FL; 3 granddaughters, Kathy Chandler of Lanark Village, Laurie (Brian) Swartzell of Elkhart and Teresa (Paul) Quinn of Tempe, AZ; 5 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Lois graduated from Concord High School in 1933. She and her husband owned and operated Devon’s Home Store at the corner of Princeton and Indiana Ave. in Elkhart from 1942-1955.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 11 am at Little Pine Cemetery. Pastor Tom Clark will officiate. She was a member of Little Pine Church of the Brethren for many years.

Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, Elkhart is entrusted with arrangements.
