Lois McClure, 95, of Elkhart formerly of Bristol, passed away Sunday Jan. 25, 2015 at Eastlake Terrace, Elkhart. She was born Jan. 9, 1920 on a farm on the south side of Heaton Lake to Merle D. and Jessie O. (Bickel) Corson.
On Dec. 31, 1940 in Bristol she married Dale P. McClure who preceded her in death on June 3, 1979. Lois is survived by 2 daughters: Diane (Fred) Smith of Bristol and Cindy McClure of Elkhart, 3 grandchildren: Shannon Fisher of Bristol, Julian “Alex” Crow and Ashley (Juan) Marte both of Elkhart and 8 Great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Doris P. Menges and Betty Arlene Corson and a brother D. Robert Corson.
She graduated from Bristol High School in 1938 and worked for the US Postal Service for 25 years. She was a member of Bristol United Methodist Church for 78 years, Bristol High School Alumni Association, Rebekah Lodge and Bristol Chapter 273 of O.E.S.
Her father, Merle Corson, was one of 10 children of Roland and Margaret (Artley) Corson. Lois greatly enjoyed the yearly reunions of the Corson family.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 pm Tuesday Jan. 27 at Bristol United Methodist Church and 1 hour prior to the noon service on Wednesday Jan. 28 at the church. Pastor Fred Stayton will officiate. Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be made to Harbor Light Hospice or Elkhart County Humane Society.
