Lois D. Mills

Lois D. Mills, 86, died at 8:00 pm, July 24, 2011 at Golden Living Center in Elkhart. She was born March 10, 1925 to Charles W. and Leona M. (Maggert) Ramer in North Webster, IN. She married James T. Mills on February 2, 1965 in Wisconsin. He died September 24, 2000.

She is survived by a son Chester (Deb) Shuck of Elkhart; 4 daughters Claudine “Kay” (Keith) Buford of Abilene, TX, Judy Haught, Charmain (Emery, Jr.) Meacham, and Ruth Ann Young all of Kokomo; 21 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 5 brothers Charles, Roy, Carl, Chester and Richard Ramer; and 4 sisters Myrtle Clark, Susanna Ramer, Betty Furman and Gracie Ramer.

Mrs. Mills was employed as a cook at Rosie’s Diner for 17 years and then Turtle Creek Nursing Home for 8 years. She retired after working 4 years at ADEC Industries.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the 11:00 am service on Thursday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home at Cobblestone Crossing, Elkhart. Pastor Tom Conrad will officiate.
