Loy G. “Butch” McKibbin, 68, of Elkhart and Mesa, AZ passed away October 8, 2012 at Elkhart General Hospital.
He was born Jan. 10, 1944 in Elkhart to Loy G. and Esther (Meese) McKibbin Sr. He married Suzanne Rutter on April 11, 1964 in Cassopolis, MI. She survives with a son, Jeffrey (Diane) McKibbin of Elkhart, 2 daughters, Christine (Jeff) Riffel of Osceola and Stephanie (Randy) Doncilovic of Elkhart; 8 grandchildren, Zachary, Caden, Jessica, Garrett, Spencer, Rodney, Abegail and Dale and a sister, Nancy (Walter) Gunn of South Bend.
Butch graduated from Concord High School in 1962 and served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He retired in May of this year as owner of Moore’s Towing Service and currently was the owner of Moore’s Brake Service. He attended Faith United Methodist Church, and was a member of Kane Masonic Lodge #183, Scottish Rite, Valley of South Bend, Mizpah Shrine, Ft. Wayne, Loyal Order of Moose #599 and the Elkhart Evening Optimist Club. He was an avid motorcyclist and enjoyed boating, and fishing with his grandkids. Butch and Sue enjoyed travelling worldwide.
Visitation will be from 3-8 pm Wednesday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, Elkhart. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 am Thursday at Faith United Methodist Church, Goshen. Rev. John Hogsett will officiate. Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Faith United Methodist Church or Elkhart Evening Optimist Club Scholarship Foundation.
