Lucille A. Long

Lucille A. Long, 90 of Elkhart, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, Dec. 24, 2015 at Elkhart General Hospital.

She was born Jan. 20, 1925 in Elkhart to Claude L. and Mary E. (May) Funk. She married Frederick D. Long on July 1, 1944 in Elkhart. He died on Sept. 15, 2009. Surviving are a son, Tom (Mary Ann) Long of Jones, MI; 4 grandchildren, Jeremy Long, Jessica (Chris) Kauffman, Eric (Candace) Long and Monica (Courtney) Evans, 7 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandson, A.J. Kauffman. She was preceded in death by a son, Terry Long, a brother, Marvin Funk and 2 sisters, Marie Christianson and Gertrude Horne.

Lucille graduated from Elkhart High School in 1943 and was a sales clerk for Ziesel’s Department Store in Elkhart for 19 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Red Hat Society.

Visitation for Lucille will be on Monday, Dec. 28th from 11 am to 1 pm at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home where services will begin at 1 pm with Rev. John Blodgett officiating. Interment will follow at Rice Cemetery.
