Lucille J. Monk

Lucille J. Monk, 77, of Bristol, died at 4:30 am, November 22, 2009 at Valley View Healthcare Center, Elkhart.

She was born February 16, 1932 in Elkhart to Boyd and Whaneta (Stewart) Reese and married Donald L. Monk on March 13, 1955 in Elkhart. He survives along with 3 daughters, Deb (Randy) Kavas of Cincinnati, OH, Judy (Jim) Phelps of Osceola, and Linda (Jeff) Stewart of Jimtown; 3 grandsons, 1 step granddaughter, 1 great-granddaughter and 2 step great-granddaughters; 1 brother, Gene (Marge) Reese of Angola, IN and 1 sister, Bonnie Collins of Elkhart. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Merle Reese and Arthur Reese and 2 sisters, Elizabeth Swain and Louise Doncaster and her parents.

Mrs. Monk was a homemaker and waitress and enjoyed working with her husband at the restaurants they owned. She was a member of the First Brethren Church, Elkhart and enjoyed bowling, fishing, camping, traveling and spending winters in Florida. She loved to attend festivals and craft shows and spend time with her family playing cards and rummikub. She previously held offices with the Elkhart Jayshees and Women of the Moose.

Friends may call from 4-7 pm Tuesday and an hour prior to the 11 am Wednesday funeral at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd. Elkhart. Reverend Tom Conrad will officiate. Cremation will follow services.
