Margaret R. Chandler

Margaret R. Chandler, 94, of Elkhart, passed away Friday Jan. 29, 2016 at Woodland Manor, Elkhart.

She was born Dec. 27, 1921 in Nappanee to Oliver and Edith (Haney) Huff.
She married LeRoy C. Chandler, Sr. on March 13, 1965. He preceded her in death on May 18, 1984.
Surviving are sons: Kenneth D. Staub of Elkhart and Thomas D. Staub of Bradenton, FL; 1 daughter, Sharon (Larry) Kinser of Mullins, TX; 1 step-son, LeRoy (Nancy) Chandler,Jr. of Ft. Myers, FL;1 step-daughter, Cindy Trost of Gaithersburg, MD; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews; 1 brother, DeVoe Huff and a sister, Martha (LeRoy) Love both of Nappanee.
She was preceded in death by a son, Ray L. Staub Sr., daughter, Carolyn Weaver, stepson, James Chandler, stepdaughter, Rebecca Downing, brothers, Russell, Stanley, Floyd and Wayne Huff, sister, Esther Roth and sons-in-law, Arthur Trost and Steve Weaver, daughter-in-law Nancy Staub and sister-in-law and Phyllis Huff.

Margaret graduated from Dowagiac High School and received a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting from LaSalle University, Chicago. She worked at Rocket Car Wash from 1986 to 2003 and retired from Sundstrand in Dowagiac in 1986. She previously worked for 19 years at Henry Weiss Manufacturing Co. and G. L. Perry Co. She attended First Baptist Church of Elkhart. She especially enjoyed traveling with her husband, Roy.

In accordance with her wishes, Margaret will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date with inurnment at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Heart Association.
