Marguerite A. Johnson

Marguerite A. Johnson, 82, of Elkhart, died at 6:55 pm, January 12, 2010 at Elkhart General Hospital.

She was born September 25, 1927 in Mt. Sterling, IL to Leonard H. and Esther L. (Jones) Scherrer and married William Owen Johnson on May 5, 1945 in Bowling Green, Missouri. He died on January 2, 1982. Surviving is 1 daughter, Gail Smith of Elkhart; 4 grandchildren, Noelle Mathews, Ryan Smith, Owen Johnson and William Johnson; 1 great-grandson, Michael Mathews and a brother, Leonard Scherrer, Jr. of Elsberry, MO. A son Gary O. Johnson preceded in death.

Mrs. Johnson retired from the St. Joseph Valley Bank in Elkhart after 20 years where she was the teller supervisor and was a teller herself. She was a volunteer for Loveway, Inc. for 5 years and was a volunteer for Switchboard Concern. She enjoyed gardening.

Friends may call from 4-8 pm Thursday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd. Elkhart where services will be held at 1 pm Friday. Pastor Shirley Fox of New Testament Bible Church will officiate. Entombment will be at Chapel of Memories, Rice Cemetery.
