The world has lost another of the "Greatest Generation." Marian (Mimi) Knispel died on
October 20, 2021. A mom, a friend, a mentor and a brilliant 90-year-old sweet soul. She had
such a quick wit and easily commanded the attention of many a room with her amazing
personality. The room at her house for learning never closed to the very day she died. I
couldn't even list all the lives she touched, maintaining this beautiful and graceful demeanor at all times. She taught us as her daughters all the old secret protocols of decorum; to show respect and compassion for all in this world. She was a unique combination of old values, childlike curiosity and an ear to the pavement to catch the funniest moments of her very
simple/complicated life. We will never be the same without her.
She is survived by her two daughters; Julie Hains of AZ and Jody Hein of GA, two grandsons;
David (Natasha) Hains and Michael (Michelle) Hains. She has five little great-grand girls; Mazzy,
Eliza, Vivian, Tess and Cora that she just adored. She also has four wonderful daughters by
marriage, to Merlin Knispel (deceased); Shan, Sheryl, Stacy and Sandy. They have been the team on the ground through many challenging times. There is not room to list the rest of her close friends but please know she loved all of you.
She is saying her goodbye today and there will not be any visitation or viewing. She will see you
again.
