Marie Richard

Marie Richard, 100 of Elkhart, died Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at Valley View Healthcare Center.

She was born July 18, 1911 in Kewanna, IN to Charles H. and Ethel A. (Freels) Wentzel and married Joseph P. Richard on Nov. 19, 1932 in Albion, IN. He died Dec. 17, 2000. Also preceding in death is her brother Harold Wentzel in 2000, her daughter Jerrie J. Huneryager in 2007 and 2 grandsons. She is survived by her son-in-law, Thomas L. Huneryager of Edwardsburg; Grandsons, Timothy S. (Robyn) Huneryager of Middlebury and Robert D. (Michelle) Huneryager of Mishawaka; Granddaughters, Penny G. Huneryager, Karen J. (Mark) Renkiewicz, Christine A. (Jay) Martin, Janice L. (Christopher) Scroy all of Elkhart and Susan K. (Michael) Bridger of South Bend; She also has 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Marie was a homemaker who was very active in her church, Grace UMC and later Faith UMC. Her interests were reading, crocheting, sewing and calling friends and family on their birthdays to sing to them.

Friends may call an hour prior to the service at 11 am Saturday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home at Cobblestone Crossing, Elkhart. Rev. Larry Kurtz will officiate. Burial will follow at Rice Cemetery.
