Marie Swift

Marie Swift, 78 of Elkhart, passed away Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014 at Hubbard Hill Estates. She was born Feb. 11, 1936 in Detroit, Mich. to Clarence and Lillian (Hobbs) Rader. She married Louis G. Swift on Dec. 10, 1955 in Detroit. He survives with 3 sons, Greg (Julie) Swift of New Haven, IN, Scott (Melinda) Swift of Apex, NC , Russell (Michelle) Swift of Murfreesboro, TN; a daughter, Elizabeth (Ken) Dypkowski of Highland, IN; 8 grandchildren; a sister, Barbara (Fred) Doe of Roswell, NM and brother, Joe (Lise) Ledford of Henderson, NC. She was preceded in death by a son, David and sister Helen Harrington.

Marie was a homemaker and loved her grandchildren. She was a lifelong member of Hillcrest United Methodist Church, where her work in women’s ministry, in particular, Circle of Friends, featured hand crafted all occasion cards and stamping, which raised money for a wide range of ministries.

Visitation for Marie will be Friday, Oct. 24th from 2-6 pm at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, where services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 25th at 4 pm. Reverend Michael Heinbaugh will officiate.

Memorial gifts may be made in her honor to support ministries of Hillcrest United Methodist Church.
