Marie E. Teal

Marie E. Teal, 92, formerly of Elkhart, and of Muncie, IN, died at 6:00 am, July 22, 2009 at the Renaissance Center, Muncie.

She was born October 11, 1916 in Elkhart, IN to Frank W. and Ona (Ehret) Essig and married Harry O. Teal on July 14, 1940. He died January 12, 1979. Surviving are 2 sons, Stanley (Kay) Teal of Elkhart and William (Sharon) Teal of Grand Lake, CO, 2 daughters, Nancy (Tom) Cosgrove of Pinon Hills, CA and Mary Griffis of Muncie, IN, 1 sister, Joan Rinehart in Sebring, FL, one sister-in-law, Phyllis Rzeminski, 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her sister Frances Essig, brother Howard Essig, and son-in-law John Griffis.

Mrs. Teal was a secretary at two churches, Central Christian Church in Elkhart and Yucaipa United Methodist Church in Yucaipa, CA. She was a 1934 graduate of Elkhart High School, and was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Elkhart and recently a member of First Church of the Nazarene, Muncie. She was also a sixty-year member of the Variety Card Club, and was recently a member of Alpha Center in Muncie. She was formerly a member of the Ox Bow Eights Square Dance Club.

Friends may call from 2-5 pm Sunday, July 26th, at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd. Elkhart. Private family burial will take place Monday morning at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Friends may also visit the family one hour prior to the 2 PM memorial service at Faith United Methodist Church on Monday, July 27th. Reverend Brian Cray will officiate.
