Mark S. Dawson

February 23, 1958 — September 17, 2014

Mark S. Dawson, 56 of Bristol, passed away Sept. 17, 2014 at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee.

He was born Feb. 23, 1958 in South Bend to Glen Eugene and Maxine Louise (Steele) Dawson. He married Sharon K. Pontius on August 27, 1988 in Edwardsburg. She survives with a daughter, Amber S. Dawson of Elkhart; 2 sons, Cody S. Dawson and Taylor T. Dawson both of Bristol; 2 grandchildren, Carter Lutrell and Hayden Hill; 2 sisters, April (John) Schultz of Mishawaka, Diane Hale of Lakeville; his mother, Maxine Dawson of Lakeville and his dog, Buckie. He was preceded in death by his father.

Mark graduated from Penn High School in 1976 and was president and owner of Gustafson Lighting Co. for 25 years. He semi-retired at 44 years of age and was self-employed. He loved fishing and hiking and the Michigan upper peninsula. He had a great sense of humor. Mark had such a servant’s heart and helped, taught, served and inspired those around him. Even after his death, Mark continued to give by being an organ donor.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, October 11th at 1:00 pm. It will be held at Briar Patch Pavilion (on County Road 8, Bristol) that is a part of Bonneyville Mill grounds. Please dress casually as this is an outside venue; even wear a flannel in tribute to Mark.

Memorials may be given to Boy Scout Troop 776, CVMC Children’s Ministry, Elkhart County Jail Ministries or the Wounded Warrior’s Foundation. There will be an opportunity to give at the celebration on October 11th or you can mail to Sharon Dawson at PO Box 452, Middlebury, IN 46540
