Marvin E. Clerc, 94, of Elkhart,IN, formerly of Midland, MI, passed away Wednesday Dec. 9, 2015 at Eastlake Terrace, Elkhart.
Marvin was born April 19, 1921 in Thayer, NE to Henry V. and Lillie (Sterup) Clerc.
He married Mildred M. Mardlin on Feb. 7, 1942. She preceded him in death on Dec. 18, 2009. Surviving are his son Terry (Janene) Clerc of Elkhart, IN and a daughter Dona Lutz of Bloomington, IN, 4 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and a sister Lois Leach of Midland, MI. He was preceded in death by brothers: Jack, Arnold and Pete and sisters: Bernice, Mable, Maxine, Marjorie (Bee) and Joyce.
Marvin served in the US Army 103rd Division during WWII. He was a charter member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Midland, MI. He retired from Dow Chemical Co. after
38 years of working in the maintenance department. He was an avid fisherman and pool player. He enjoyed gardening and taking care of his yard.
Marvin will be laid to rest beside Mildred at Midland Memorial Gardens, Midland, MI.
There will be no other services at this time.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior’s Project or to Harbor Light Hospice.
