Marvin S. Stump

April 27, 1924 — June 23, 2015

Marvin S. Stump, 91 of Elkhart, passed away Tuesday, June 23rd at Riverside Village, Elkhart.

He was born April 27, 1924 in Kankakee, IL to Barton T. and Isabelle (Bray) Stump. He married Joan U. Mellinger on Oct. 13, 1946. She survives with a daughter Marla (Donald) Riendeau and a son, Brian Stump both of Elkhart and 2 granddaughters and a great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and 2 brothers.

Marvin graduated from Elkhart High School in 1942 and served with the U.S. Marine Corps in the pacific theater in World War II. He retired as a conductor with Conrail. He was a member of Kane Masonic Lodge #183; Scottish Rite, Valley of South Bend; Orak Shrine and Four Lakes Country Club. He loved golfing, fishing, bowling and euchre. He enjoyed winter vacations for the last 30 years at Sundance Mobile Home Village in Zephyrhills, FL.

Visitation for Marvin will be Thursday, June 25th from 4-7:30pm at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, where a masonic memorial service will be at 7:30pm.

Graveside services will be Friday, June 26th at 10 am in the mausoleum at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be given by the U. S. Marine Corps and the D.A.V. #19.
