Marvin M. VanZile, 85, of Elkhart, died January 29, 2011 at Elkhart General Hospital. He was born May 23, 1925 in Scott, IN to Clarence W. and Gladys L. (Strawser) VanZile and married Phyllis J. Warner on June 28, 1952 in Three Rivers, MI. She survives with 3 sons, Rod (Keva) VanZile Dave (Kristine) VanZile both of Elkhart, Doug (Robin) VanZile of Union, MI; a daughter, Kathy (Jerry) Stow of Elkhart; 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, a brother, Richard (Shirley) VanZile of St. Joseph, MI and 2 sisters, Louise (George) Pratt of Celina, TN and Ruth Ann Terry of Atlanta, GA. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Stacy Lynn VanZile, a granddaughter, Amy Jo VanZile and a brother, LeRoy VanZile.
Mr. VanZile retired from NIBCO after 37 years as a machinist in the tool & die department. He was a member of Grace Bible Church and enjoyed snowmobiling, camping, mushrooming, smelt dipping, and hunting. He was a Bears and Cubs fan, Michigan football fan and was a former Osolo Little League coach and manager, and was a scorekeeper coach for his grandkids little league games. He was always involved with his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids activities. He was a member of the Old Duck hunters, Inc. and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-8 pm at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home at Cobblestone Crossing, Elkhart where services will be held at 10:30 am Thursday. Pastor Mike Fisher will officiate. Burial will follow at Zion Cemetery, Bristol where military honors will be rendered by the U. S. Army honor guard and the D.A.V. #19.
Memorials may be given to Grace Bible Church or American Heart Association.
