Mary Margaret Davis

Mary Margaret Davis (nee Nye) died October 2, 2024. She was 86 years old.

 Mary was born in Elkhart, IN on December 14, 1937 to Carlos and Lulu May (nee DeMoss) Nye.

 She was an exceptional student. She graduated from Elkhart Central High School and went on to study at St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Mishawaka, IN. She spent over 10 years working for Elkhart General Hospital and over 15 years working for Target.

 She married Patrick A. (Tony) Davis of Enniscorthy, Ireland on October 8, 1960 in Shipley, Yorkshire, England. Patrick predeceased her in 2018.

 She was an avid reader and sports fan. Her favorite teams were the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Chicago Bears. She loved to drive and traveled through many American states on her road trips.

 She is survived by her 4 children: Betsy Davis of Peekskill, NY; Kathleen (John) Hudak of Warsaw, IN; Erin (Paul) Cataldo of Goshen, IN and Patrick (Traci) Davis of Kingwood, TX. 

 Her brother William J. Nye of Littleton, CO survives her while her brothers Charles Nye and Fredrick Nye predeceased her.

 Mary has 12 grandchildren: Grainne and Conor Daly; James Stanton (Melody); Alannah, Antonio (Lucia), Gemma and Gianna Cataldo; Caitlin Doucette (Claude), Carmela Williams (Jack); and Brianna, Ailey and Liam Davis.

 She has 3 great-grandchildren (Dante Stanton, Annie Doucette and Beckett Cataldo), cousins, nieces and nephews across the country who also survive her.

 A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Vincent’s Catholic Church,1108 S. Main Street, Elkhart, IN 46516. Visitation will be prior to the Mass at 12:30 p.m. A Florence Nightingale Service by the Beacon Nursing Honor Guard will be at 1pm. Internment of ashes will follow at St. Vincent’s Cemetery.
