Mary Louise Kelly, 83, of Elkhart, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2020, at East Lake
Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, following a brief illness. She was born to John and
Marguerite Rickord, in Pittsburgh, PA., on January 22, 1937.
She married James George Kelly, June 21, 1958, in Chicago, IL. He survives along with four
sons, Michael, Patrick (Peg), and James J. (Julie), all of Elkhart, and John, of Mishawaka, seven
grandchildren, Rachel (Chad Weaver), Bryan (Audrey), Brett (Brittney), Brooke (Ben Polk), Erin
(Andy Manoloff), Brady and Logan Kelly. Five great-grandchildren, Asher and Evelyn Kelly,
Cameron and Amelia Polk, and Lucas Manoloff. Also surviving are a sister, Jean Stewart, and
sisters-in-law, Erma Rickord, Mary Ellen Hanlon and Elaine (Michael) Doyle, all of Chicago, IL.,
along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, John (Mitzi), George (Laurie) and James
Rickord, and a brother-in-law, Edward Stewart, all of Chicago, IL.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and enjoyed going to casinos with her sister,
playing Bingo and crafting. She was a lifetime Notre Dame fan and loved Chicago sports,
especially the Cubs and Bears. But her pride and joy was her family which she cherished more
than anything.
