Mary M. (Flynn) Lowther

Mary M. Lowther, 88 of Osceola, IN formerly of Elkhart, IN passed away at her home surrounded by her family. Mary was born on January 22, 1935 in Lamar County, AL., to Travis and Lona Flynn. She married Gene R. Lowther on March 27, 1970 in Elkhart, IN he preceded her in death on July 29, 2014.

Mary is survived by her children Michael (Pam) Estes of Osceola, IN  Shelia (Steve) Lacy  of Del City, OK and Renee Miller of Illinois; sister Ruby Elsworth and  Judy Loutzebheiser; brother Charles Flynn and F.M. Flynn. 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her parents Travis and Lona Flynn, husband Gene Lowther, sons Jack Estes and James Estes, daughter Donna Estes, siblings Faye Erwin, Benjamin Brake, Larry Brake and great-grandson Dylan Bailey.

Mary worked for over 21 years at Federal Paper Board Company as a machinist and she retired as a finisher for Barger Box after 9 years. She was a member of Heritage Free Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School. She loved watching birds and flowers.  Mary was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. She watched Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, The Price is Right and Survivor. She enjoyed traveling and going on church retreats. Most of all she loved spending time with her friends and especially her family.

Visitation will be from 10am – 3 pm on Saturday, December 16, 2023 Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46154 where funeral services will be at 3pm at the funeral home. Pastor Mark Johnson will officiate. Mary will be laid to rest next to her husband, Gene at Prairie Street Cemetery on Monday, December 18, 2023.
