Mary Rose Spencer, 73, of Elkhart, died at 3:18 pm, December 31, 2010 at Elkhart General Hospital.
She was born August 2, 1937 in Terre Haute, IN to Forrest H. and Mary J. (Reiver) Heiliger and married Robert E. Spencer on Sept. 25, 1993 in Elkhart. He survives with 2 daughters, Mary Jo (Samuel) Blosser of Goshen and Debbie Lea (Douglas W.) Cox of Elkhart; 2 step daughters, Joyce Ann Frost of Elkhart and Jo-Ellen Foster of Montezuma, IN; 1 step-son Todd Allen Spencer of Montezuma, IN, 5 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 4 sisters, Eleanor (Robert) Holdeman of Michigan, Ruth Ann (Randall) Pletcher of Elkhart, Jo Ellen (Gary) Lorenz of White Pigeon, MI and Martha (John) Holderman of Elkhart and a brother, Keith V. (Diana) Heiliger of Granger, IN. Her parents, a daughter, and 2 brothers preceded in death.
Mary was a retired cashier for the A&P Grocery Store and was a homemaker. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing and loved her grandchildren.
Visitation will be 2-8 pm Wednesday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home at Cobblestone Crossing, Elkhart where services will be at 10 am Thursday. Reverend Daniel Gelatt will officiate. Burial will follow at Rice Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to United Cancer Services of Elkhart County.
