Mattie Jean Nichols

Mattie Jean Nichols, 78 of LaGrange, IN. died January 21, 2011 at 2:30 A.M. at Millers Merry Manor in LaGrange. She was born on July 15, 1932 in McMinnville, TN. to William Gowen and Joy Louise (Sain) Shelton. She married Hollis Lee Nichols in 1950. He preceded her in death in 1998.

Survivors include a daughter, Debby (Jan) Bean of Elkhart; grandchildren Brooks and Holly Bean and great-grandchildren Alexandria and Nicholas Bean all of Elkhart.

According to her wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Stemm Lawson Peterson Funeral Home at Cobblestone Crossing is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mrs. Nichols retired from Miles Laboratories after 27 years of service. She was a member of their Athletic Association as well as the Quarter Century Club. Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer’s Disease Foundation or the Humane Society of Elkhart County.
