Maxine P. Black

Maxine P. Black, 82, of Bristol, died September 19, 2010 at Elkhart General Hospital. She was born March 21, 1928 to Samuel and Fern (Eby) Mechling in Edwardsburg, MI. She married Pastor Paul E. Black on August 28, 1966 in Kessington, MI. He died April 25, 1995.

She is survived by a son Robert E. (Jackie) Black of Bristol; 4 daughters Patricia (Scott) Sullivan of Edwardsburg, Pamela (Doug Ward) Deal of Three Rivers, Cheryl L. and Christine L. Black of Bristol; 8 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and sister Doris (Howard) Wolfinger of Union.

A member of Kessington Community Church, Mrs. Black was a church pianist and homemaker. She was an avid jigsaw puzzler and loved to vacation in Mackinaw City, MI.

Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the 1 pm funeral service Wednesday at Kessington Community Church. Pastor Steven Steele will officiate. Burial will be in Kessington Cemetery at a later date. Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, Elkhart, is handling arrangements.

Memorials may be given to Kessington Christian School.
