Maxine Lucille Stump, age 95, of Elkhart, passed away Monday Oct. 25, 2021 at Hubbard Hill Estates, Elkhart. She was born January 3, 1926 in Elkhart to Albert and Alma Ort. She married Ronald Barton Stump on August 3, 1947 in Elkhart
Maxine was a homemaker and loving wife and mother to 6 children. She enjoyed playing pinochle with her friends every month. She was a member of Trinity on Jackson, (formerly Trinity United Methodist Church), where she was a member of the Mary Circle. She and her husband enjoyed square dancing on Saturdays with their friends. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and volunteered as a Red Coat at Elkhart General Hospital. Maxine was a dedicated sports fan, she loved the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears and IU Basketball. She was thrilled to see the cubbies win the world series in 2016. She was an avid golfer and bowler. She was in the women’s league at Four Lakes Country Club and Old Orchard Golf Course. She achieved the elusive hole in one at Old Orchard in 1990! She bowled at Oakland Lanes for over 20 years on various Women’s Leagues.
Surviving are her children, Linda (Norm) Klopfenstein of Rocheport, MO, Gregory Stump of Elkhart, Debra J. Robinson of Elkhart, Becky (Doug) Kline of Goshen, Gary B. Stump of Kilkenny, MN and Beth L. Stump of Elkhart; her grandchildren Kevin Robinson, Jeff Robinson, Laura Klopfenstein, Mike Klopfenstein, Adam (Christine) Kline, Abbey (Brad) Ream and Amy (Brock) Yoder; her great-grandchildren Hallie, Brady, Isla, Mason, Levon, Ella, Conner, Olivia, Brynn and Grayson. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ronald, her siblings Chester Ort, Floyd Ort, Ruby Cast and Whitney Ort.
Visitation for Maxine will be from 9-10 am on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home. 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514 where services will be at 10 Pastor Karen Koelsch will officiate. She will be buried next to her husband at Rice Cemetery, Elkhart.
