Merle Natalie Stickel

Merle Stickel, 88, of Elkhart, IN passed away on January 30, 2025. Born on July 27, 1936, in Oelwein, Iowa, to George and Loretta Woldt, she spent the majority of her life in Elkhart. On June 6, 1959, she married Robert Stickel, and together they raised two children, Lori and Todd.

Merle is survived by her daughter Lori (Byron) Ambrose, of Batavia, IL son Todd (Bonnie) Stickel of Macungie, PA; two granddaughters, Morgan Stickel and Kendyl Stickel. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bob, and her parents,  George and Loretta.

After graduating from Elkhart High School, Class of 1954, Merle worked at CTS and Chiphone Credit Union before her retirement. She was a devoted, lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Elkhart IN and an active member of the Esther Circle. During her children’s younger years, she enjoyed family camping trips, and later treasured luncheons with her dear friends from high school, the Esther Circle, and the Frontiers Club. She loved playing games, especially cards, and frequently emerged as the winner. Merle will be fondly remembered for her warmth and kindness, and her family will always cherish the memories they shared.

Visitation will take place on Friday February 14, 2025, from 9:30 am – 11 am, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 30888 C.R. 6 Elkhart, IN 46514, where a Funeral Service will begin at 11 am, Pastor Spencer Mielke and Pastor Robert Schallhorn will officiate. A funeral procession to Rice Cemetery, 400 James St Elkhart, Indiana 46516, will begin after the services have been concluded at the church.
