Michael J. Cebra

Michael J. Cebra, 61 of Elkhart, passed away Feb. 29, 2016 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka.

He was born August 22, 1954 in East Chicago, IN to Michael and Ella (Roark) Cebra. He married Kathy M. Kirk who survives along with a son, James (Lisa) Cebra; 2 daughters, Melissa Cebra and Rebecca Cebra all of Elkhart; 2 step-sons, Sean (Heather) Kirk and Patrick Kirk both of Ft. Wayne; step-daughter, Tracey Kirk of Cedar Rapids, IA; 9 grandchildren; 4 sisters, Helen Studer of Genoa, IL, Pamela Cebra of Highland, IN, Mary (Tony) Bradshaw of Portage, IN, and Diane Jackson of Merrillville, IN; 2 brothers, Dan (Billie Jo) Cebra and Brian (Nikki) Cebra both of Lowell, IN and his father, Michael Cebra of Highland, IN. He was preceded in death by his mother Ella and a sister, Susie Cebra.

Michael earned his undergraduate from Ball State and his Master’s from Indiana University. He was a teacher and coach for 40 years, most recently at West Side Middle School. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Friday, March 4th at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, where services will be held at 11 am Saturday, March 5th. Rev. Mickey Davenport will officiate.
