Michael G. “Mike” Zanker Kasa, 56, of Elkhart, died Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at 8:10 am in the Elkhart Hospice House. He was born January 22, 1953 in Cleveland, Ohio to Henry (Pauline) Zanker and Marie (Larry) Kasa. On June 27, 1982 he married Mary “Peg” VanHimbergen in LasVegas, Nevada.
She survives along with his parents, a son Benjamin (Beth) Kasa of Georgetown, Kentucky; a daughter Kasey (Timothy) Potts of Elkhart; 2 brothers Philip (Monica) Kasa of Bristol and Allen Zanker of Parma, Ohio; 2 sisters Marion (Don) Kolograf of Walton Hills, Ohio and Karen (Bill) Schnell of Hinckley, Ohio; and several nephews and nieces.
Mr. Kasa opened Kasa’s Place/Shear Perfection Hair Salon in 1978, and The Tortoise and The Hair Salon in 1996. He enjoyed his family, golfing, and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle.
Visitation will be 3-8 pm Sunday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, where funeral services will be held Monday at 10:00 am. Father Bill Sullivan will officiate. Cremation has taken place.
