Michael C. Koehler, 74, of Elkhart, passed away Sunday Jan. 15, 2017 at home surrounded by his family.
He was born March 22, 1942 in South Bend to Christian and Irene (Bekaert) Koehler.
On Nov. 8, 1975 in South Bend, he married Sandra White who survives along with a daughter Michelle (Matthew) Kreager of Farmington Hills, MI and a son Christopher (Katrina) Koehler of Auburn, IN., a granddaughter, Elsie Kreager, a grandson, Philip Kreager, and a brother Bradley S. Koehler of Goshen. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mike graduated from South Bend Central High School and served in the US Navy for 3 years. He returned home and attended trade school to become an electrician. He retired as an Electrical Contracting Project Manager for Schwartz Electric. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, where he was very involved with Trustees, Baby Boomers, cooking peanut brittle and many other activities. He enjoyed golf and skiing and was a ski instructor for 15 years at Swiss Valley Ski Resort.
Mike’s hobbies included gardening, home improvement and playful shenanigans with his grandchildren. Mike and Sandy spent their retirement years enjoying traveling to beautiful locations.
Visitation will be on Tuesday January 17, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home where services will be on Wednesday January 18, 2017 at 10 A.M. with Rev. John Hogsett officiating.
Burial with Military Honors will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.
