Michael R. Terlep, Sr., 75, of Elkhart, passed away Friday March 13 at Elkhart General Hospital.
Michael was born Dec. 19, 1939 in Elkhart to Anthony and Ermine (Duncan) Terlep. On Aug. 8, 1959 he married Rosemarie Gouker at St. Vincent’s Catholic Church, Elkhart. Surviving are his wife Rosemarie, a daughter, Christina (Greg) Paritz of Elkhart, sons: Michael R. (Sheila) Terlep, Jr. of Bristol and Timothy A. (Laurie Sailor) Terlep, Sr. of Elkhart, 8 grandchildren: Timothy, Julianne, Amanda, Hilary, Michael, Cassondra, Nicholas and Julia, 2 great-grandchildren; Savanna and Emma; a sister Victoria Welles of Goshen, 3 brothers: Tony (Dolores) of Elkhart, Steve (Pat) of Florida and Tom (Patti) of Indianapolis. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Julie Anne Terlep.
Michael graduated from Elkhart High School, Class of 1959. He retired as General Manager of Elkhart City Water Department where he worked for 34 years. He then worked for Coachmen Industries for 15 years. He was also co-owner of Hairmasters Salon for over 30 years.
Michael was an active member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. Michael had a deep passion and love for his Catholic faith and his family.
Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 5 to 7pm Monday March 16 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home where a Rosary Service will be held at 4pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10am Tuesday March 17 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church with Fr. Jason Freiburger officiating. Burial will follow at St. Vincent’s Cemetery, Elkhart.
