Michael Tsakoniatis

Michael Tsakoniatis, 89 of Union, MI, passed away October 1, 2013 at his home. He was born July 27, 1924 in Athens, Greece to John and Efthemia (Fedake) Tsakoniatis. He married Edna Viola Miller on January 20, 1961 in Elkhart. She died on November 19, 2004. Surviving are a brother, George Tsakoniatis, a nephew, Jon (Marie) Tsakoniatis, and a great-niece, Eleferea Tsakoniatis all of Athens, Greece; 4 grandchildren, Christine Almasi Mast of Indianapolis, Michael Almasi and Mark Almasi both of Shipshewana and R. Brett Almasi of Lake Odessa, MI; 1 great-granddaughter, Sierra Mast of McCordsville, IN and a brother-in-law, Dale (Leonarda) Miller of Bristol.

Mike was a Greek Orthodox and served in the Greek Navy during World War II and retired as a painting contractor. He was a member of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades and Local 1118, South Bend.

Visitation for Mike will be Thursday, Oct. 3rd, from 4-6 pm at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral & Cremation Center, Elkhart. Private graveside services will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens on Friday.
