Mildred R. Slayton

Mildred R. Slayton, age 69 years, a resident of Elkhart, IN departed this life Wednesday morning, February 4, 2009 at the home of her son and daughter in law, Brent and Jeanne Slayton at Bristol, IN.

She was born Monday, January 29, 1940 at Bowden, WV a daughter of the late Orval Carr and Arbutus Barkley Carr. On September 28, 1962 at Lanham, MD she was married to Ronald B. Slayton, who survives at Elkhart, IN. Also surviving are two sons; Donald Slayton and wife JoAnn, Ft. Wayne, IN; Brent Slayton and wife Jeanne, Bristol, IN; one daughter, Ruth Fisher and husband Paul, Goshen, IN; two brothers, Jack Carr and wife Brenda; and Jerry Carr and wife Carol; all of Elkins; two sisters, Jean Iseli and husband Neil, Cummins, GA; Shirley Booth and husband Bill, Heathsville, VA; and seven grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are two brothers, Donald and James Carr.


Mildred was a homemaker, was a member of the Women of the Moose at Nitro, WV, enjoyed her grandchildren and loved to play Bingo.


Friends may call from 6-8 P.M. Saturday at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home, 120 First Street Elkins, West Virginia where services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday with the Reverend Janet S. Jenkins officiating.
