Nelba I. Shook

Nelba I. “Nene” Shook, 69, of Elkhart died at 9:41 am Saturday August 27, 2011 at home.

She was born April 5, 1942 in Wabash, Indiana.

Surviving are her parents Cynthia and Paul Sigsbee of Bristol, three daughters; Sonja Gilbert, Violet (Mark) Wakeman and Tamyra (Louis Lambert) Wade-Shook all of Elkhart, 12 grandchildren, Mark (Joanna) Wakeman, Camille (Harold) Frazier, Mary Jane Gilbert, John (Nicole) Wakeman, Erik (Rosa) Wakeman, Misti (Trevor) Laughman, Bradley (Amber) Wakeman, Brittany Wade, Broch Wade, Brodrik Lambert, Christy (Tyler) Fletcher, and Tiffany Lambert; 12 great-grandchildren, a brother Donald (Laura) Sigsbee of Bristol, two sisters: Paula (Bill) Bainter of Warsaw, IN and Anna (Rich) Rohr Sigsbee of Bristol and her longtime companion, Robert Freshour of Elkhart. Also surviving are several step-children and step-grandchildren.

Nene was a cashier at Miles Labs/Bayer Corp. and previously worked in the cafeteria for Sodexho and the Weston Plaza.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home at Cobblestone Crossing, Elkhart where the service will be held at 1 pm Wednesday. Pastor Carl Henry will officiate. Burial will follow in Rice Cemetery.
