Omar O. Swinehart

Omar O. Swinehart, 87, of Elkhart, died April 7, 2010 at 11:57 am at Golden Living Center. He was born April 25, 1922 to Del C. & Louise (Cable) Swinehart in Elkhart. On July 23, 1945 he married June R. Boyer in Elkhart. She died November 25, 2009.

He is survived by his daughter Susan Swinehart of Elkhart, a sister Martha Cook of Goshen, and several nephews and nieces. Along with his wife, he was preceded in death by his brother Richard and son Lawrence.

Mr. Swinehart was a retired foreman at Bayer Corp. for 18 1/2 years. Prior to that he was a machinist at Martin Van Instrument Company for 16 years. He graduated from Concord High School Class of 1940, was a member of the US Army Air Force and loved woodcarving.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 am Saturday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, Elkhart followed by a processional to Prairie Street Cemetery for an 11:30 graveside service. Rev. Ron Spyker will officiate.
