Orlin “Hewitt” Grove Jr., 95, of Osceola, passed away at 11:17 pm, May 25, 2011, at home with his family. He was born June 6, 1915 in Elkhart to Orlin Hewitt and Charlotte (Cleveland) Grove Sr. He married Helen “Bernice” McFall on August 30, 1936 in Elkhart. She passed away December 2, 2004.
He is survived by a granddaughter, Kim Wiles of Mundelein, IL., a grandson, Scott (Nicole) Wiles of Osceola, a great-grandson, Dominik Sanderson and a great-granddaughter, Rhegan Wiles at home. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Marsha Doss and Beverly Wiles, three sisters, Allice Boomershine, Rose Scott and Ruth Fisher and four brothers, Louis, John, George and Robert Grove.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church in Elkhart with the Reverend Lori Blinn Gibson officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church.
Orlin worked as sales supervisor for 32 years at Plumrose. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and volunteered for Lifeline Youth for Christ. He loved to paint, woodworking and gardening. He served in the US Navy during World War II on the USS Chopper #342. Memorial contributions may be given to Lifeline.
