Ota Jane Moody

Ota Jane Moody, 89, of Elkhart, died Saturday, December 26, 2009 at 8:59 am at Elkhart General Hospital.

She was born May 18, 1920 in Montpelier, IN to Clarence and Lena (Schreider) Murphy. She married Glenn W. Moody December 15, 1940 in Muncie, IN. He died on November 6, 1999. She is survived by 2 sons Glenn L. (Sandra) Moody of Carrollton, TX, and James L. (Lujean) Moody of Niceville, FL; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and a brother Clarence (Lillian) Murphy of Noblesville, IN. She was preceded in death by a son John “Jack” Moody; a daughter Glenna Longcor; and 3 sisters June Bowden, Betty McCormick, and Joan Thornburg.

Mrs. Moody was a homemaker and had worked at JC Penney Co. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, and DAV Auxillary #19. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star Starlite Chapter and was active in scouting.

Visitation will be Wednesday 5 to 8 pm at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, where funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:00 pm. Sister Nora Frost of Grace Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
