Patricia A. Smith

Patricia A. “Patty” Smith, 57, of Bristol, died Saturday August 29, 2009 at her home.

She was born September 6, 1951 in Elkhart to Frank A. and Betty J. (Martin) Lavrich. Surviving are 2 brothers, Jeffrey Lavrich of Richmond, VA and Peter (Cathy) Lavrich of Elkhart; 3 sisters, Susan (Harry) Schlabach of Edwardsburg, MI, Nancy (Phil) Pletcher of Bristol, and Debbie (Mike) Hudnall of Elkhart, and her best friend, Judy Beckwith of Bristol. She was preceded in death by her parents.

She graduated from Elkhart High School in 1969 and earned a degree in Special Education from Indiana State University and had worked for 30 years for the Edwardsburg Public Schools as a special education teacher and I.T. director retiring in 2008. She was also a Certified Financial Planner. She was a life member of the Women of the Moose, Elkhart, and member of D.A.V. #19, Elkhart, and the American Legion #143, Bristol. She was an avid golfer, enjoyed going to the boat and loved to travel.

Friends may call from 5-8 pm Thursday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd. Elkhart. Cremation has taken place.
