Paul F. Holtzinger, 85 of Elkhart, passed away Friday, Nov. 6, 2015 at the Elkhart Hospice House.
He was born on Feb. 25, 1930 in Bristol to Austin A. and Daisy L. (Kline) Holtzinger. He married Doris Cox on March 21, 1984 in Bradenton, FL. She survives with his children, Kathy (Elton) Torans of Katy, TX and Randy (Rica) Holtzinger of Elkhart; Step-children, Steve (Brenda) Cox of Dayton, OH, Cynthia (Cliff) Smartt and Pamela (Tim) Feller both of Elkhart; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 2 sisters, Donna (George) Briesacker of Sopchoppy, FL and Carolyn Dimos of Elkhart. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Holtzinger, a sister, Beverly O’Dell, a granddaughter, Tamara Robinson and his parents.
Paul served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division. He delivered milk by horse and wagon for Grady Dairy and also worked for Borden Dairy and State Line Dairy. He retired in 1991 as a truck driver for Holland Motor Freight.
He attended Chapel Hill Missionary Church in Union and was former chief and volunteer with the Cleveland Township Fire Dept. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and an Elkhart Landlord for 30 years. He was a member of the M.R.A., and was president of the Elkhart County Snowmobile Club in 1982. He was one of the founders of the Cleveland Little League.
Friends may visit with the family from 11 am to 1 pm Wednesday, Nov. 11th at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home where services will begin at 1 pm. Pastor Rob Meckley will officiate. Interment will follow at Adamsville Cemetery with Military Honors.
