Peggy E. Kessler

Peggy E. Kessler, 82, of 1201 E. Beardsley Avenue, Elkhart, passed away October 12, 2008 at her residence.

She was born August 26, 1926 in Elkhart to Albert and Helen (Bell) Hindes and married K. Keith Kessler on March 7, 1947 in Elkhart. He died November 1, 1976. Surviving are 3 daughters, Kris (Bill) Whitman of South Bend, Sue Smith of Elkhart and Cindy (Tim) Harness of Cassopolis, MI; 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. A granddaughter, Teri Schlabach preceded in death.

Mrs. Kessler retired from Elkhart Community Schools as a secretary in the Media Center. She graduated from Concord High School. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, and a member of the Bridge Club Ladies Group for over 50 years. She enjoyed sewing and cooking and loved to collect dolls.

Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Wednesday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd. Elkhart, where a memorial service will be held at 1:30 pm, Thursday. Pastor Tim Diemer of Grace Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Rice Cemetery, Elkhart.

Memorials may be given to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc.
