Phyllis D. Alabaugh, 94 of Elkhart, passed away July 25, 2012 at Eastlake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born July 18, 1918 in South Bend to Floyd and Pearl (Stage) Wolfgang and married Robert W. Alabaugh on July 29, 1937. He died Sept. 27, 2005. Surviving are a son, Donald W. (Jeri) Alabaugh and a daughter, Linda L. (Robert) Farrell both of Bristol; 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Patricia, a granddaughter, Cynthia McCluckie, a great-great-grandson, Adam, a twin sister, Florence Hull, a brother, Fred Wolfgang and her parents.
Phyllis graduated from Riley High School in 1936 and retired after 25 years as assistant County Clerk for St. Joseph County. At her retirement she was given the key to the City of South Bend by the mayor. She was a lifetime member of AMVETS and loved animals especially her dogs and cats. She was a fantastic mother and a great cook.
Visitation will be from 10 am until the service time at 12 pm Saturday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, Elkhart. Pastor Fred Stayton will officiate. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
