Phyllis Dean Bachert, 86, of Elkhart, died at her home May 29, 2011. She was born May 8, 1925 in Elkhart to Adam and Ruth (Unrue) Mollenhour. She married Norman K. Bachert on March 24, 1944 in Greenville, SC. He passed away January 12, 1998.
She is survived by her sons Greg (Elizabeth) Bachert of Mt. Vernon, IN, and Brett (Vickie) Bachert of Elkhart; daughters Phyllene (Stephen) Lazarus of Lake Zurich, IL, and Sue (Mark) Clark of Elkhart; 6 grandchildren Jim (Holly) Bachert, Jon (Holly) Bachert, Leah (Kevin) Kelley, Ryan (Amy) Clark, Lindsay Clark and Bretta Bachert; 6 great-grandchildren Ethan and Emily Clark, Jacob and Charlotte Bachert, Sydney and Samantha Bachert; her twin brother Philip Mollenhour of Bonners Ferry, ID; and her sister Eyleen Menhart of Tampa, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers Lyle and Roger Mollenhour.
Mrs. Bachert had been a sales clerk at Ziesel’s for 10 years. She was a 50-year member of Simpson United Methodist Church and currently a member of Calvary United Methodist where she was in charge of the prayer shawl ministry and read the children’s story during services. She enjoying crocheting and knitting for charity.
Friends may visit the family Friday from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home at Cobblestone Crossing, Elkhart. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 am at Calvary United Methodist Church, Elkhart with Pastor Laurence Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
