Phyllis A. (Mills) Gordon

Phyllis A. (Mills) Gordon, 77 of Elkhart, passed away Friday, July 18, 2014 at Elkhart General Hospital.

She was born September 10, 1936 in Elkhart to George and Fannie (Hay) Pettit. She married Charles M. Gordon on November 23, 1990 in Elkhart. He survives with her 3 children, Douglas (Susan) Mills and R. Scott Mills both of Elkhart and Cynthia (Eric) Witherspoon of Evanston, IL; 3 step-children, Michele (Larry) Holloway of Plymouth, IN, Lisa Gordon of Sturgis, MI and Steve (Rita Weaver) Gordon of Elkhart; 16 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and her sister-in-law, Susan Pettit of Elkhart. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, James Pettit.

Phyllis graduated from Elkhart High School in 1954 and was a secretary for Bank One and then retired in 2000 from R.J. Reese Insurance Co. She was a member of First Congregation Church, P.E.O Chapter EA and the Four Arts Club.

Visitation for Phyllis will be from 10 am to 12 Noon on Saturday July 26th at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home where services will be at 12 Noon. Reverend John Hogsett will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to First Congregational Church or United Cancer Services of Elkhart County.
