Phyllis Patricia Kerwood

Phyllis Patricia Kerwood, 71, of Bristol, Indiana passed away August 2, 2008 at Elkhart General Hospital after a sudden illness.

She was born January 26, 1937 in Perryton, Texas to Elmer H. and Helen (McDaniel) Carnes. She married Joe W. Kerwood on December 4, 1954 in Stinnet, Texas. He died on August 23, 1993. Surviving are a daughter Connie Griffy and a son Bobby Kerwood both of Bristol, Indiana; 4 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter, and 2 brothers Dean Carnes of Booker, Texas and Harold Carnes of Wichita, Kansas. She was proceeded in death by 3 sisters, Elma Sumner, Donna Gaskill and Wanda Steele, and 6 brothers, Bobby, Warren, Kenneth, Richard, Doyle and Billy Carnes.

She was a homemaker and retired as an assembler for Ascot Enterprises in Elkhart, Indiana. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Middlebury and liked to help others. She also was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.

Friends may call from 5-8 pm Monday, at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home where services will be 1 pm Tuesday. Reverend Donald Chesher of Faith Baptist Church in Middlebury will officiate. Burial will be at Little Pine Cemetery, Goshen.

Memorials may be given to Faith Baptist Church, Middlebury or United Cancer Services of Elkhart County.
