Phyllis J. Shearer, 86 formerly of Union, Mich, passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at Settlers Place, LaPorte.
She was born June 24, 1931 in Elkhart to Jesse and Pearl (Dunmire) Tharp. She married Arthur L. Shearer on Jan. 21, 1950 in Logansport. He died on July 9, 2005. Surviving is a son, Douglas (Nancy) Shearer of Chesterton, IN; 2 grandchildren, Traci (Tony) Goin of Chesterton and Derek (Renee) Shearer of Grand Rapids, MI and 5 great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Kody and Samuel Goin and Dawson and Emma Shearer.
Phyllis graduated from Concord High School and had worked at Yellow Creek/Elcona Packing Company for 42 years. She was a member of Mottville Bible Church, the Red Hat Society and Eastern Star.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Saturday, April 21st at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, Elkhart where family and friends may visit an hour prior to the service with Pastor Mike Bender officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Mottville Bible Church.
