Quinton "Buz" R. Leonard

Quinton "Buz" Leonard of Elkhart was called home by his Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday morning June 13, 2021. He was 82 years old. He is survived by his spouse of 61 years, JoAnn. His two children; daughter Lori Mischke, her late Husband Fred, his son, Scott, and wife Dawn, both of Elkhart and granddaughter Lindsey Guetzko and her husband Nate Guetzko of Grand Rapids, MI and sister Shirley, and her husband Charlie French of Tucson, AZ, his niece Cari French and his nephew, Jeff, and his wife, Sabrina French

Buz was born in Elkhart to James Keelin and Pauline Leonard on Sept. 9, 1938. Buz loved the water. On it, around it and in it. As a young boy playing in a gravel pit, to teenage years at Simonton Lake, then onto boating on Lake Michigan and finally 35 years of living on Cobus Creek. He loved listening to jazz music, spoiling the numerous family pets, and rooting for the Colts and Cubs. He was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church and served others as a member of Stephens Ministries outreach.

On a warm fall evening in 1959, he met the love of his life at Dave’s Drive Inn, JoAnn. They were married 6 months later and lived in Elkhart for the next 61 years. Buz enjoyed a 40-year career in the RV industry where he made lifelong friends during his working years.

Friends may visit with family from 4-6 pm on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514. Funeral services will be at 1pm on Friday, June 18, 2021 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 30888 CR 6, Elkhart, IN 46514 where visitation will be one hour before services. Fr. Ted Stanley will officiate.
