Ralph M. Kimes, 93, of Bristol, Indiana, passed away November 23, 2008 at the home of his son.
He was born August 13, 1915 in Warsaw to Merle and Mary (Silveus) Kimes and married Mary Ellen Hubbard on June 10, 1939. She died December 2, 1983. He then married Irma J. Omo on July 21, 1986 in Kendallville, IN. She survives with a son, Larry (Cindy) Kimes of Bristol; 1 step-daughter, Sharon (Richard) White of South Haven, MI; 2 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren and 2 step-great-grandchildren and 2 sisters, Leone (Joseph) Buhler and Maxine (Bill) Smith both of Elkhart. 4 sisters, 1 brother, 1 granddaughter, 1 step-granddaughter and 1 great-great-grandson preceded in death.
Mr. Kimes retired as foreman from Elkhart Rubber Works after 40 years. He also was a farmer in the Bristol area for many years.
He was a 50 year member of George Washington Lodge # 325 in Bristol, where he was a past master and treasurer.
Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Tuesday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, Elkhart and an hour prior to the 1:00 pm service on Wednesday at the funeral home. A masonic memorial service will be held at 7:30 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Reverend Ron Spyker will officiate. Burial will follow at Trout Creek Cemetery, Bristol.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Goshen Care at Home Services.
