Rebecca L. Holmes

Rebecca L. Holmes, 80 of Elkhart, IN. died May 11, 2011 at 6:10 PM at Elkhart General Hospital. She was born on November 30, 1930 in Eldorado, Illinois to Ralph and Gladys Irene (Fryar) Bixler. She married Monte Holmes in 1980 who precedes her in death.

She is survived by four Sons; Richard Allen Current and James Franklin Klemmer of Elkhart, Darrell Wayne (Elizabeth) Bridwell of Osceola and Larry Kenneth Klemmer of Goshen, 13 Grandchildren, 20 Great-Grandchildren, 5 Great-Great Grandchildren and 2 Sisters; Phyllis Johnson of Clifford, Michigan and Barbra Doom of Warren, Michigan.

Friends may call from 2-6 PM. Sunday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home at Cobblestone Crossing where services will be held 11 AM Monday with Pastor Mary Booth Lyons of Church Lady in Friends officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery, Elkhart.

Mrs. Holmes worked for 15 years at Turtle Creek Nursing Home in Elkhart and later as a cook for Judd Drug Store. She loved to collect stuffed animals and knick knacks, play cards, and loved to watch western movies. Memorial contributions may be given to the United Cancer Services of Elkhart County.
