Richard J. Blough, 87 of Bristol, passed away March 20, 2013 at Elkhart General Hospital. He was born December 25, 1925 in Middlebury to Paul and Ruby (Long) Blough. He married Joy Nifong on March 21, 1948 in Bristol. She survives with 2 sons, David (Connie) Blough of Bristol and Brent (Linda) Blough of Elkhart; a daughter, Dawn White of Bristol; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; a brother, DeVon Blough of Bristol and a sister, Carol Becht of Pell City, Ala.
Richard graduated from Middlebury High School in 1943 and served in the U.S. Army in World War II in the Counter Intelligence Corps. He was a farmer, and drove a school bus for 41 years for Bristol and Elkhart Schools. He also had worked for Stewart Coach for 25 years. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church, and was on the Elkhart Farm Bureau Board for 30 years. He was a charter member of International Harvester Corp. and a member of Northeast Steam and Gas Assoc. He collected old farm tools and enjoyed travelling to Europe.
Visitation for Richard will be from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Friday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, Elkhart and a half hour prior to the 1:30 pm service on Saturday at Northside Baptist Church. Pastor Carl Henry will officiate. Burial will follow at Zion Cemetery where military graveside honors will be rendered by the U.S. Army Honor Guard.
