Richard D. Forry

Richard D. Forry, 96, of Elkhart, passed away Thursday Nov. 20 at Greenleaf Living Center, Elkhart.
He was born Dec. 4, 1917 in Elkhart to Charles C. and Zellah (Stark) Forry. On September 1, 1940 at Grace Lutheran Church in Elkhart he married Florence Wright. They celebrated 74 years together this past September.

Surviving are his wife, Florence, daughters: Diane (Jack) Cronk of St. Joseph, MI and Judith (Charles) Wuthrich of Port Orange, FL.; a “special daughter” Elli Strukel of Elkhart;
2 grandsons and 3 great-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister June Grafslund, a grandson Eric Cronk and a great-granddaughter Lexie.

Richard served in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1945 -1947. He worked as a letter carrier for 37 years retiring in 1973. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church where he was a trustee and taught Sunday school. He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers, The Elkhart Conservation Club and the Elkhart Historical Society. He loved his family and liked fishing, trap shooting and gardening.

A memorial service will be at 2pm Tuesday Nov. 25 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, Elkhart with Pastor Tom DeFries officiating. There will be a short visitation following the service.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church or Elkhart Conservation Club.
