Richard W. Matteson Sr.

Richard W. Matteson, Sr. ,65, of Elkhart died at 3:37 am Saturday (April 17, 2010) at home.
He was born March 18, 1945 in Columbia City, IN to Claude Marion and Mary Ellen (Gillispie) Matteson who preceded him in death. On Feb. 18, 1972 in Elkhart he married Jean Slabach who survives along with 5 daughters: Michelle Symanski of Battle Creek, MI, Kimberly (Kevin) Becker of Bristol, IN, Cathy Soules of California, Christine (Gary) Neiman of Gig Harbor, WA, and Angela Matteson of Elkhart, a son Richard W. (Susan) Matteson, Jr. of Goshen, a brother Bob (Judy) Matteson of Columbia City, IN and 12 grandchildren.

Richard was a real estate agent and broker for Right Choice Realty. He proudly served his country as a Marine from 1962 to 1966. He was a member of DAV Post 19, the American Legion, Elkhart County Board of Realtors, life member and Shooting Instructor for the NRA. He loved working with leather, martial arts, shooting sports and fishing.

Services will be 2pm Thursday (April 22, 2010) at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home 1531 Cobblestone Blvd, Elkhart with Pastor Ron Bell of Grace Bible Church officiating. Friends may call from 2 to 8 pm Wednesday (April 21) in the funeral home.
